Terms of Service
Last updated 2026-07-06. The rules for using ContentWise, in plain language where we could manage it.
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using ContentWise, you agree to these terms. If you're using ContentWise on behalf of a company, you're confirming you have authority to bind that company to them.
2. What ContentWise is
ContentWise is a content strategy and copywriting tool. It generates content calendars, captions, blog posts, and email copy using AI (Anthropic's Claude), based on brand information you provide, and gives you tools to review, edit, design, and publish that content.
3. Your account
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans are billed through Stripe on the cycle you select at checkout. You can cancel anytime; access continues through the end of the paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or stated otherwise at the time of purchase.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use ContentWise to generate content that's illegal, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, tier restrictions, or the invite/access gate (where applicable)
- Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or manipulate the underlying AI system beyond normal product use
- Use the service to build a competing product by systematically scraping or replicating it
- Interfere with the service's operation, including attempting to circumvent rate limits or overload the API
6. Your content, and AI-generated output
You own the brand information you provide and the content ContentWise generates for you. You grant us a limited license to process that data solely to provide the service (including sending it to Anthropic's API to generate your content, per our Privacy Policy).
AI-generated content can be wrong, generic, or occasionally reproduce phrasing similar to other text it was trained on. You're responsible for reviewing generated content — including for accuracy, brand fit, and any third-party rights — before you publish it. We don't guarantee outputs are error-free, original, or fit for any particular purpose.
7. Connected third-party services
If you connect a CMS, email provider, or design tool (Ghost, WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva, etc.), your use of that service is governed by its own terms. We're not responsible for how those services handle content you publish through them.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate §5, or for non-payment. On termination, your data is handled per the retention terms in our Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
ContentWise is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated content will meet your requirements.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ContentWise won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, or data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
This clause is standard SaaS contract language, not tailored to any specific jurisdiction — some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability exclusions, in which case those exclusions apply only to the extent permitted there. Worth a lawyer's confirmation before relying on it.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. This is a working default based on where most of the underlying infrastructure operates, not a confirmed legal determination — update it if the operating business is actually established elsewhere.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you by email.
